HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — As we head into the start of the new week, the hot and humid air mass is forecast to remain over the region. High temperatures will warm into the low to mid-90s.

Along with the continued heat and humidity, the rain chance will steadily be on the rise.

The combination of the hot air mass and high dew points will support high heat index values both Monday and Tuesday. The heat index will range from 98 to 105 degrees each afternoon.

The hottest areas will be across northwest and northcentral Alabama.

With the heat index forecast to reach this high, it will be important for you to stay hydrated and cool. If you plan to spend time outdoors, make sure to take breaks and find shade when needed. To help stay cool, wear lightweight and colored clothing.

Rain Chance:

Showers will be isolated on Monday before increasing in coverage on Tuesday. The best chance for scattered showers and storms will be Wednesday and Thursday as an upper-level trough moves into the region. The potential for storms will be on the rise, though the severe weather threat doesn’t appear widespread.

Strongest storms that develop will be capable of producing winds over 50 mph, frequent lightning, locally heavy rain, and small hail.

Stick with The Weather Authority for the latest on this week’s rain and storm chances.
