Crunchyroll has unveiled the official trailer for Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2. The announcement was made during a special panel at Anime Expo 2025, which also marked the trailer’s global premiere. Set to simulcast from Japan, the new season continues the journey of the immortal elven mage Frieren as she navigates a world shaped by memory, loss and quiet introspection. The announcement also confirmed Crunchyroll’s acquisition of worldwide streaming rights, excluding Asia but including India and the Indian Subcontinent.

The panel featured key creative voices behind the series, including producer Yuichiro Fukushi, composer Evan Call and voice actor Chiaki Kobayashi, who plays Stark. Fukushi revealed that Tomoya Kitagawa, who previously directed multiple episodes and contributed storyboards in Season 1, will take the helm as director for Season 2. Meanwhile, Keiichiro Saito, the director of the first season, will return as Supervising Director.

Produced by studio Madhouse, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is based on the manga by Kanehito Yamada and Tsukasa Abe. The first season earned critical acclaim and multiple awards, praised for its emotional depth and atmospheric storytelling. The second season of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is set to release in January 2026.
