Charles Leclerc Frustrated After Qualifying in Silverstone: ‘I Can Only Blame Myself’

Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc finished behind his teammate Lewis Hamilton in qualifying for the British Grand Prix.

Leclerc qualified in sixth – one spot lower than Hamilton, who finished in fifth.

Both Leclerc and Hamilton showed impressive pace throughout the weekend but failed to put together a clean lap in Q3.

Hamilton ended up closest to pole and appeared on track to secure the top spot until he lost time during sector three.

After the session, Leclerc shared his disappointment with the end result – feeling like he left some speed on the board.

“I haven’t been good enough, and unfortunately it has been more qualifying than not that I find myself here saying that it could have been, it should have been,” Leclerc told reporters after the session.

“But at the end of the day, if I don’t do the job inside the car and I don’t put all my corners, my best corners together, then I ended up P6 instead of being on the front row.

“So I can only blame myself; I’m very disappointed because quality used to be one of my strengths.

“I feel like, generally, since quite a bit now I’m performing very well in races, but in qualifying, I’m missing something.”

While Leclerc didn’t maximize the result, the Ferrari SF25 showed some impressive pace that is capable of fighting for a race win.

Since Leclerc does well in terms of race pace, he should fare well on Sunday and while he is starting on the back foot for a win, a podium could be on the cards.

Hamilton, on the other hand, could still win the race from P5, though it will be a massive challenge.

Regardless of the result, Ferrari’s floor upgrade is delivering the team a boost in performance and bodes well for its hopes in the second half of the season.
