They went out with a bang.
A poorly rigged fireworks set-up in Alabama turned a boat into a Fourth of July fireball — and sent six men to the hospital, according to officials.
The illegal rockets were set off on a boat rigged as a fireworks platform on Lake Martin, when something malfunctioned, leading to a massive explosion, WSFA reported.
Video circulating on social media showed a spectacular blast out on the waters of Blue Creek — overwhelming the small platform in a sparkle of red, white and blue lights that both rained down and exploded.
Images show the aftermath — a burnt-out platform covered in soot with a pair of sneakers apparently abandoned.
Despite the dazzling sight, the crew aboard suffered minor injuries and were forced to put a hold on the much anticipated annual show.
All six men were treated at area hospitals for minor injuries.
The fireworks display is currently under investigation by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency and Alabama Fire Marshal Office.
