SOMERVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — TLC Recovery House, a nonprofit for women who are overcoming their addictions, held its fourth-anniversary celebration Saturday.

TLC Recovery House founder Crystal Steelman said Saturday’s event aimed to guide anyone who needs help finding the road to recovery. The event featured 30 recovery organizations.

“We love to get the chance to help everyone find what fits for them, you know cause everybody’s recovery looks different so we wanted to bring everyone in one space,” Steelman said. “If we reach one person today and they need help then they can find the help they need.”

The event featured raffles, testimonies and fun, with all proceeds going towards the Josiah House, a recovery organization for men that Steelman hopes to start in honor of her son, who died while battling addiction.

Anastasia Farris, Josiah’s sister, said his testimony is helping inspire others to find the road to recovery.

“Josiah’s story helps to save people’s lives even if they don’t know him just through the story and testimony we have is super beneficial for the people out there who think they can’t make it or think they are too far gone,” Farris said.

Recovery organizations at the event told News 19 that they are thrilled to have the opportunity to share the resources they offer in an attempt to help those struggling.

“We’ve all had the reservations of stepping out and asking for help,” LaShawn Tuttle with the Miracle House said. “Know that stigma no longer stays with us, there is no stigma anymore we do recover.”

“Recovery is really spreading, we are actually from Florence Alabama so it’s a blessing to come to this type stuff and see the recovery spread worldwide,” Bridgette Stout with Addiction Recovery said. “It just gives them inspiration and motivation.”
