While Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’ wedding lit up Venice, New York City hosted a notable wedding of its own between Daniel Humm, the owner of the plant-based restaurant Eleven Madison Park, and the “Succession” actress Annabelle Dexter-Jones. She is the daughter of Mick Jones, a founder of the rock band Foreigner, and half sister to the fashion designer Charlotte Ronson and the D.J.s Samantha and Mark Ronson, making the guest list as star-studded as her family tree.

The wedding, which took place on June 28 at Eleven Madison Park in Manhattan’s Flatiron district, was called for 6 p.m., but guests didn’t trickle into the outdoor courtyard, where servers passed trays of carrot tartare and champagne, until around 6:30 p.m. The wedding’s invitation called for a “three stars” dress code, a nod to the restaurant’s Michelin status, which guests interpreted in varying ways. Some wore sneakers and T-shirts, others arrived in suits and gowns.

One of the first guests to arrive was Fran Lebowitz, a family friend of the bride, who stood in a corner smoking cigarettes with Francesco Clemente, an artist friend of the groom. Mr. Clement, who was previously ordained through the Universal Life Church, officiated the ceremony, with Ms. Lebowitz participating. Some guests referred to them as “The Frans.”

Rashid Johnson, an artist with an exhibit at the Whitney Museum of American Art, chatted with Kevin Love, who plays for the Miami Heat basketball team, while Questlove, the drummer and record producer, warmly embraced Mr. Ronson and his wife, Grace Gummer, an actress and a daughter of Meryl Streep. Other guests included the actresses Elle Fanning and Jemima Kirke.

At 7 p.m., attendees were corralled into the foyer of the office building that houses Eleven Madison Park, which was covered in champagne-colored drapes and lilacs, where the ceremony took place. The chef Daniel Boulud was one of the last guests to stroll into the festivities, 10 minutes after everyone was seated and hushed.

Ms. Dexter-Jones, 38, and Mr. Humm, 48, who live together in Manhattan’s NoHo neighborhood, met in July 2024 at the wedding of the art dealer Vito Schnabel in Old Westbury, N.Y. They started chatting during the after-party and were shocked they had never met since they had close friends in common and had been at the same events. “But I had never even heard Annabelle’s name before,” Mr. Humm said.

Mr. Schnabel said in retrospect, there was a sign of what would happen in the future: Ms. Dexter-Jones wore white to his wedding. “It wasn’t in bad form at all,” he said, laughing. “But I guess she somehow knew something magical was coming?”

The couple only talked for a few minutes, but Mr. Humm said he was hooked. “I was serious about her immediately, like in the first five seconds,” he said. He started asking friends about her, even accepting an invitation to watch the Wimbledon tennis finals at 8 a.m. at the house where she was staying. “I knew Annabelle was staying there,” he said. “Otherwise, I would have never woken up to go see that game.”

Ms. Dexter-Jones, who played Naomi Pierce in the HBO series “Succession,” has a bachelor’s degree in literature from Bard College. She started having feelings for Mr. Humm a few days after watching Wimbledon together. They had stayed up until 5 a.m. talking by the ocean after a dinner party in Amagansett, N.Y.

After that, Mr. Humm wanted to hang out all the time, she said. They rode bicycles around New York City and went to dinner at JG Melon and Sant Ambroeus, restaurants they both loved.

After two weeks, Mr. Humm (unsuccessfully) asked the actress to be his girlfriend. “I was like, ‘While I really appreciate that, I am just so happy and enjoying getting to know each other, why would we skip over all the fun stuff?’” she said. Still, she knew it was inevitable that the day would come.

Mr. Humm came in so hot that Mr. Ronson joked in a speech he gave at the wedding, “Let’s just say in medical terms or clinical terms, some of the things you were saying would maybe be what we call in the business colossal red flags.”

Mr. Ronson said Mr. Humm won over the family at his birthday dinner at Casa Cipriani in September. “He slotted right into our family,” Mr. Ronson said. “And then, of course, being such a classy guy, Daniel bought a bottle of this incredibly rare dessert wine that I only even recognize the thing because that is what Patrick Bateman orders in ‘American Psycho.’”

Around that time, Ms. Dexter-Jones also met Mr. Humm’s three daughters from previous relationships over dinner in the Hamptons. “I was a little nervous,” she said. “But then I went in thinking I just wanted to learn about them, and that was that. It was really great.”

The couple grew closer during a trip to Switzerland last September when Ms. Dexter-Jones got a case of vertigo and had to stay in a dark room for three days. “We had this wacky German doctor who thought a crystal was out of place, and he taught us this crazy maneuver,” she said. “It was funny.”

By February, Mr. Humm knew he wanted to propose, so he enlisted his friend, Mr. Clemente, an Italian neo-expressionist artist, to help. He had Mr. Clemente paint a portrait of Ms. Dexter-Jones with an engagement ring on her finger. After an eight-hour sitting, when she saw the portrait, she was shocked. “I screamed and then I started crying and then I blacked out,” she said. “And then when I came to, I was like, ‘Did you ask me, like verbally?’ and he was like, ‘Yes,’ and I was like ‘You have to do it again.’”

After toying with the idea of a small wedding at New York City Hall, the couple decided to get married at Eleven Madison Park. “We started thinking about places in New York, and then we’re like, ‘Well, I think the most beautiful place in the city is my restaurant,’” Mr. Humm said. “Then it seemed pretty clear we should do it there.”

After the ceremony, where Mr. Humm’s three daughters gave speeches, and the couple exchanged handwritten vows, a three-hour, five-course dinner began. The meal consisted of laminated bread, spring gazpacho soup, tomato soba noodles, smoked potatoes, and mushroom skewers paired with Chablis from Burgundy and cabernet sauvignon from Napa Valley, Calif.

After dinner, the festivities moved upstairs to the Clemente Bar, which Mr. Humm opened in October. In one room, dessert was served, including a praline wedding cake, while in another room, the cocktails were flowing as guests hit the dance floor until 3 a.m.

Many attendees said the highlight of the night was when Mr. Ronson and Nate Ruess, the frontman of the pop-rock trio Fun., who is married to Charlotte Ronson, sang, “I Want to Know What Love Is,” by Foreigner. “My dad wrote this song for my mom,” said the bride. “He wrote amazing love songs, and I wanted to incorporate them into the wedding.”

The couple held each other through the whole song, clearly feeling, at least for this moment, what love is.

A Veil Waiting for Its Moment The fashion designer Gabriela Hearst, a friend of Mr. Humm’s, made custom designs for the bride, her mother, and Mr. Humm’s children. With only five weeks to prepare, she didn’t have time to make a custom veil, but did have an idea: In 2023, she created a veil out of pearls for the Leonora Carrington Collection that had never been used. “I had it made, waiting for this moment,” Ms. Hearst said. “It’s called ‘La Novia,’ the bride in Spanish.”

Turkish Bath Visit The morning of the wedding, Mr. Humm visited a downtown Manhattan Turkish bath with his best friend, Mr. Johnson. “I took him to a Turkish bath this morning, and he was like, ‘I’m getting married today,’ and I was like, ‘I know,’” Mr. Johnson said. “I saw that same grin he had on his face when he met Annabelle.”

Art-Wrapped Chocolate Rita Ackerman, a painter and friend of the couple, made the wedding invitations by hand. She also created custom candy wrappers for chocolate that the couple gave out at the end of the evening.
