Actor Julian McMahon, known for his roles in FBI: Most Wanted, the 2000s Fantastic Four films, Nip/Tuck, and Charmed, has passed away after a private battle with cancer.

The news was first reported by Deadline.

“Julian loved life. He loved his family. He loved his friends. He loved his work, and he loved his fans. His deepest wish was to bring joy into as many lives as possible. We ask for support during this time to allow our family to grieve in privacy. And we wish for all of those to whom Julian brought joy to continue to find joy in life. We are grateful for the memories,” his wife, Kelly McMahon, said in a statement to the entertainment news site.

McMahon was born in Sydney, Australia, on July 27, 1968. His father served as the Prime Minister of Australia from 1971 to 1972.

First starting out as a model, McMahon transitioned into acting and starred in Australian daytime soap operas and movies before moving to Hollywood.

In 1993, he starred in NBC’s “Another World” and later landed a role on “Charmed,” starring as Cole Turner. He also played Dr. Christian Troy in Ryan Murphy’s hit plastic surgery drama “Nip/Tuck,” a role that lasted six seasons and would earn him a Golden Globe nomination.

Marvel fans will know McMahon as Dr. Doom in the 2005 “Fantastic Four” movie and the 2007 sequel “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.”

For his final role, McMahon played the Australian Prime Minister in the Netflix series “The Residence.”
