The Mercury is one of the hottest teams in the WNBA right now, winning six of their last seven games. In their last game, Alyssa Thomas led the Mercury with 16 points, seven rebounds, and eight assists. Kahleah Cooper added 15, and Sami Whitcomb chipped in 14 points off the bench, but it was not enough. A’ja Wilson put up a monster 26-point, 18-rebound, 7-assist performance in a 84-81 victory for the Las Vegas Aces.
After a very rough 1-11 start to the season, the Wings have started to find their footing, winning four of their last six games. Their most recent win came against the Washington Mystics, where the Wings took a 28-9 lead after the first quarter and cruised to a 79-71 win. JJ Quinerly and Aziaha James scored 15 points each to make up for the absence of Bueckers, who was held out as a precautionary measure to nurse a sore knee.
This is the second of four meetings between the Mercury and Wings, with Phoenix winning 93-80 back on June 11, 2025.
