A couple of dog owners from Seattle took their pet to the beach to spend some quality time together, but what the canine decided to do instead of chilling with her owners has left internet users in stitches.
In a viral TikTok video shared in June under the username @kira.denny, the poster, 27-year-old Kira Denny, and her partner, can be seen sipping coffee by the beach while a friend’s dog sits at their feet, however their own dog is nowhere in sight.
As the poster moves the camera to show the sunset, their pup, 4-year-old Stella, is filmed lying by the shore, far in the background, spending time alone instead of socializing with the rest of her family.
“Our independent Queen,” reads a caption shared with the clip.
Denny told Newsweek that Stella is a golden Pyrenees (half great Pyrenees, half golden retriever), and that she is a very goofy dog who hates peanut butter, and for some reason has always sat as far away from her owners as possible.

“It’s very normal behavior for her, whenever we take her to breweries or local events she is always sitting at the furthest end of the leash,” she said.
“We took her camping to the Washington coast and while we were watching the sunset she decided to sit really far away! We were watching our friends dog, Suki, who is Stella’s best friend. Suki was happy to sit next to us off leash.”
“We think Stella was protecting the whole pack and watching the whole beach,” she also said, adding that after sending this video to friends and family, everyone said “classic Stella!”
Dogs are known for wanting to be near their owners all the time, but this doesn’t mean they don’t feel the need to be by themselves from time to time too.
According to Psychology Today, dogs sometimes do have “enough of their owners” and when this happens, it’s just best to let them be on their own for a while, until they are ready to interact with you again.
The video quickly went viral on TikTok and it has so far received over 2.2 million views and 600,800 likes on the platform.
One user, Yesica, commented: “She’s in her teenage years.. her family just doesn’t understand her.”
Aquelmaggiora said: “Not me thinking you were talking about the dog right next to you and I was like ‘ok that’s a bit dramatic’ and LOST IT when I saw which dog you were talking about.”
Jessica added: “Close enough to come back to you, but far away enough that if a better family comes along she can appear alone and stranded. She’s keeping her options open. Good for her.”
