President Trump’s border crackdown has led to the lowest number of migrant crossings in recorded history.
Federal agents caught 6,070 migrants crossing the US-Mexico border illegally in June — and none of them were released into the US, Trump’s ‘border czar’ Tom Homan wrote on X Tuesday.
“President Trump has created the most secure border in the history of the nation and the data proves it. We have never seen numbers this low. Never,” Homan wrote.
The former Immigration and Customs Enforcement honcho attributed the tremendous drop to Trump’s mass deportation effort for scaring migrants away from jumping the border.
“God bless the men and women of the US Border Patrol and God bless the men and women of ICE. The interior arrests and consequences help to drive down illegal immigration. The TRUMP EFFECT keeps America winning,” Homan added.
It’s a 180 from the border under the Biden administration, when more migrants flooded into the US during single days and millions were set free, said Homan. Border agents caught more migrants crossing illegally in the first two days of June 2024, when over 7,000 entered the US, than in all of last month, Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Rodney Scott shared on X Wednesday.
Only 137 migrants were caught crossing on Saturday alone.
“That is less than a single day under Biden. As a matter of fact, the total number of encounters is less than half of a single day under Biden on many days. Also, none of the 6,070 were released into the U.S. ZERO,” Homan said.
In June 2024, more than 83,000 migrants traversed the border, according to CBP. More than 99,000 migrants crossed in June 2023 and roughly 192,000 in June 2022.
Trump set his first border record in February, when 8,347 migrants crossed, according to federal data.
“The world is hearing our message: the border is closed to law breakers. Under President Trump, our Border Patrol agents are empowered to do their job once again, secure our border, and protect the American people,” Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem wrote on X Wednesday.
