After splitting from longtime fiancé Chris Martin, a night out with a girlfriend is just what Dakota Johnson needed, and where better to grab a Margherita pizza (we assume) than Rome? The Materialists star stepped out for a bite with none other than fellow nepo baby Kate Hudson on Saturday, June 29, looking fresh-faced and relaxed in low-slung, baggy blue jeans and an embellished top. Hudson, too, kept it simple in a summery button-down dress accessorized with a neck scarf (very Roman Holiday) and bangles. Both ladies wore black slip-on heeled sandals to navigate the cobblestones. The two actors were joined at Pierluigi restaurant by entrepreneur Douglas Chabbott and Johnson’s agent, Maha Dakhil, according to The Daily Mail, and got a surprise visit from singer Ricky Martin, who also happened to be at the restaurant. From “Livin’ la Vida Loca” to living la dolce vita. Sorry, had to. Martin’s pants are even wider than Johnson’s.
Dakota Johnson and Kate Hudson have been friends for…ever? Both are the daughters of actor mothers, and all four women—Hudson; Johnson; Johnson’s mom, Melanie Griffith; and Hudson’s mom, Goldie Hawn—hung out in Aspen in 2015. When Hudson played a concert there at the end of last year, Johnson was in attendance. Very much the bestie energy you need around you during a major life transition.
Johnson hasn’t said anything since reports emerged that she and Martin split, for real and for good this time, despite her being one of the best interviewees in the game, providing meme-worthy clips most every time she hits the talk-show circuit. Guess we’ll have to wait for the next time she does an in-depth profile to promote a Serious Project. In the meantime, her cool-girl dinners will continue to provide our fashion inspiration.
