PHOENIX – Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs said she is “concerned” about President Donald Trump’s ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ and how it will affect Arizonans.

Hobbs told KTAR News 92.3 FM’s Outspoken with Bruce and Gaydos on Tuesday the bill will cut health care for hundreds of thousands of Arizonans.

The One Big Beautiful Bill Act narrowly passed the Senate on Tuesday after an overnight voting session. After a 50-50 split, Vice President JD Vance broke the tie.

The bill now goes back to the House for approval.

Hobbs explained the bill not only affects Arizonans who rely on Medicare but also affects many hospitals and health centers around the state which rely on Medicaid dollars to pay for the care they give.

She said many hospitals located across the state, and in rural Arizona in particular, will go under if they don’t have access to Medicaid dollars.

“That means everyone who relies on those health care centers and hospitals is going to have their access to care compromised,” Hobbs said. “That could be the difference in life or death for hundreds of thousands, if not millions of Arizonans.”

Approximately 360,000 Arizonans could lose their Medicaid coverage if the bill becomes law.

In addition to Medicaid, the 940-page bill would also cut Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits, more commonly referred to as “food stamps,” and investments in clean energy.

“The devastating impact that will have on hundreds of thousands of Arizonans, that is so that they can extend a tax cut for millionaires and billionaires,” Hobbs said. “They’re taking people’s health care away so that billionaires can have more tax cuts.”

The bill will also give additional funds to border security, something Hobbs said she is in favor of.

“We love that,” Hobbs said. “We love that. It’s great. Border security is important, and I’ve fought for that since I came to office. I’m glad to see the increase in investments that we’re getting in that regard.”
