A mom who caught her baby’s first proper laugh on camera while scolding their dog has gone viral, as millions enjoyed the sweet moment.

Rebecca, 30, who gave her first name only, lives in upstate New York with her husband, Rob, and their baby daughter, Leila. Oncology nurse Rebecca has been documenting her life as a first-time mom to their now-7-month-old daughter, and recently captured a gorgeous parenting moment: her daughter belly-laughing.

In a clip posted to her TikTok account @rebecca_newmom on June 24, Rebecca said she was scolding their dog, Revis, for having an accident on the couch, “when I hear someone start hysterically laughing at me.”

“She has never belly-laughed this way before,” Rebecca told Newsweek. “It was so shocking to hear it for the first time that I pulled my phone out right away to get it on video.”

In the clip, Rebecca keeps up her scolding of the dog, even after he has walked away, exaggerating it for effect—and Leila is in total hysterics, her whole body shaking as she bursts out laughing again and again.

The new mom told Newsweek she instantly forgave Revis for his couch accident, “because he provided us with one of the most-special moments we have ever experienced!

“The impact this moment has had on our friends and followers has been more than anything we could have dreamed of,” she added.

Rebecca and Leila’s video has been viewed more than 3.2 million times and liked over 619,000 times, with one commenter saying: “The dog does not understand why the scolding isn’t ending.”

“The dog: OKAY! I HEARD YOU!,” another added, and one comment read: “It sounds to me you are in trouble! She already thinks your rules are ridiculous!”

Rebecca shared some of her favorite comments with Newsweek, including one who said “this is the cutest video I’ve ever seen,” and said the response have been “filling out hearts up over the last few days.”

“It’s fun to see a video go viral, but the response from people has been overwhelming. Of the [hundreds of] comments, almost every single one of them was positive, uplifting, and supportive,” Rebecca said.

“People saying that this video made their day has made it that much more special for us. It’s incredible to see the impact that our tiny little 7-month-old has had on so many people. We are honored!”

As for Revis and the baby, Rebecca says that, while the dog wasn’t too keen on all the crying in the beginning, “they have since become the best of friends.”

“He is very protective of her and needs to know where she is at all times!” the mom added.

Dogs’ schedules and structure changes when a baby is added to the family, and expecting parents should consider changing these schedules and introducing new smells and noises to the home before the baby arrives, with plenty of positive reinforcement, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) advises.
