Detroit won 10-5 on Saturday, striking first in the second inning with a Matt Vierling sac fly. But Minnesota fought back, plating two on a Byron Buxon home run in the third inning to take a 2-1 lead.
The lead didn’t last long. Kerry Carpenter hit a solo shot in the bottom of the inning to tie things up, then a Colt Keith sac fly in the fourth put Detroit back on top. Gleyber Torres hit a two-run homer later in the evening, and the Tigers rolled from there. Riley Greene and Zach McKinstry homered later in the game for Detroit, while Carlos Correa gave the Twins some hope with a two-run shot in the eighth inning, getting the deficit temporarily back to four before Detroit’s Wenceel Perez sealed the deal with a two-run double.
