A family dispute ended with a woman being stabbed, a man being assaulted and the alleged suspect being shot to death, police in San Bernardino County say.
The Rialto Police Department released information on the incident indicating that it occurred just before 1:15 p.m. on Friday in the 300 block of North Spruce Avenue.
When officers arrived at the home, they found that multiple family members had been injured in an altercation between family members, including one woman who was stabbed.
She was hospitalized and eventually released, per Rialto police.
“The investigation revealed that the [alleged suspect] had physically assaulted an adult male family member and had stabbed an adult and an adult female family member,” RPD said in a public alert. “The [alleged suspect] had also attempted to stab an adult female family member when an involved party discharged a firearm, striking the decedent and preventing any further injuries to family members.”
The alleged suspect, only identified as a 29-year-old Rialto resident, was pronounced dead at a local trauma center less than an hour after the call first came out. The person who fired the gun, a 40-year-old Rialto resident, is cooperating with the investigation; he was not arrested.
The female victims were not named but were listed as a 31-year-old and a 61-year-old. The male victim who was assaulted was listed as a 57-year-old man.
All three are Rialto residents, according to police, though it is not clear if they live where the dispute occurred. The exact relation between the victims and the deceased suspect is also unclear.
No arrests have been made and all parties involved in the incident are said to be cooperating with police.
The case will be forwarded to the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office for review.
