Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures Entertainment have inked a multi-year deal for Sony to distribute the former’s upcoming titles After the Hunt, Mercy, Crime 101, and Project Hail Mary abroad.

Yes, Amazon MGM is continuing to build its own international theatrical distribution infrastructure. The new deal will fill the gap as Amazon MGM Studios’ international deal with Warner Bros ends, and the shopping site-streamer-theatrical distributor looks for a chief executive to lead its new foreign distribution arm.

Following those theatrical releases, Amazon MGM will directly distribute its slate in territories overseas where it launches owned and operated offices, with Sony supporting the studio in other international markets.

Luca Guadagnino’s thriller After the Hunt, will world premiere at the Venice Film Festival, followed by a release in select theaters on Oct. 10 and expand on Oct. 17. The pic, written by Nora Garrett, stars Julia Roberts, Ayo Edebiri, Andrew Garfield, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Chloë Sevigny, in a story about a college professor (Roberts) who finds herself at a personal and professional crossroads when a star student (Edebiri) levels an accusation against one of her colleagues (Garfield), and a dark secret from her own past threatens to come into the light.

Mercy, which will open in theaters on Jan. 23, comes from filmmaker Timur Bekmambetov and stars Chris Pratt, Rebecca Ferguson, Annabelle Wallis, Kali Reis, Chris Sullivan, Kylie Rogers, Jeff Pierre, Rafi Gavron, Jamie McBride, and Kenneth Choi. Marco van Belle wrote the screenplay, which is set in the near future when capital crime has increased and follows a detective (Pratt) who is accused of a violent crime and forced to prove his innocence. Charles Roven, Robert Amidon, Timur Bekmambetov, and Majd Nassif produced the film.

Crime 101, which will be released in theaters on Feb. 13, is directed by Bart Layton and stars Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Barry Keoghan, Monica Barbaro, Corey Hawkins, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Nick Nolte, and Halle Berry. Based on Crime 101: A Novella by Don Winslow, Layton’s screenplay finds three lives colliding in a high-stakes game of cat and mouse. Set against the sun-bleached grit of Los Angeles, a master jewel thief eyes the score of a lifetime—his final job, if he plays it right. An insurance broker, disillusioned and desperate, is looking for a way out before the system grinds her down. And a relentless detective, haunted by unfinished business, is closing in. As their fates converge in the lead-up to a multimillion-dollar heist, the line between hunter and hunted blurs. One wrong move, and it won’t just be diamonds on the line—it’ll be their lives.

Project Hail Mary, will hit theaters on March 20. The movie is directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller and stars Ryan Gosling and Sandra Hüller. Based on Andy Weir’s novel of the same name, Drew Goddard’s screenplay follows science teacher Ryland Grace (Gosling) who wakes up on a spaceship light years from home with no recollection of who he is or how he got there. As his memory returns, he begins to uncover his mission: solve the riddle of the mysterious substance causing the sun to die out. He must call on his scientific knowledge and unorthodox ideas to save everything on Earth from extinction… but an unexpected friendship means he may not have to do it alone. Producers are Amy Pascal, Gosling, Lord, Miller, Rachel O’Connor, Aditya Sood and Andy Weir.

Yesterday it was announced that Ben Affleck, Matt Damon and Gerry Cardinale’s Artists Equity, which has released movies through Amazon MGM Studios, has also signed a theatrical film agreement with Sony Pictures.

Amazon MGM Studios presented at CinemaCon for the first time on the big stage in Caesars Palace Colosseo this past April. Some of the studio’s other upcoming theatrical releases include Sarah’s Oil (11-7-25), Verity (5-15-26), Masters of the Universe (6-5-26), How to Rob a Bank (9-4-26), Three Bags Full: A Sheep Detective Movie (11-13-26), The Thomas Crown Affair (3-5-27), and two untitled The Chosen feature films (3-12-27 and 3-31-28).
