Contracts act as the gacha banners in Persona 5: The Phantom X and pulling on a contract banner is how you’ll unlock your favorite character and their iconic weapon. The banners in Persona 5: The Phantom X work similarly to other gacha titles like Honkai: Star Rail, Zenless Zone Zero, and Wuthering Waves, but there are a few notable differences.

Below, we explain how the contract banner works in Persona 5: The Phantom X and what to expect when you pull on each banner.

How contract banners work in Persona 5: The Phantom X

Similar to other gacha games, Persona 5: The Phantom X uses a banner system where you’ll need to convert a premium currency into a ticket in order to pull on a banner. There are two premium currencies in Persona 5: The Phantom X, Meta Jewels and Cognition Crystals. Here’s what they do:

  • Meta Jewels — Premium currency earned by completing story content, increasing social links, completing events, exchanging Violet Cognigems in the shop, and more.
  • Cognition Crystals — Premium currency purchased in the shop with real money. (Keep in mind, you don’t need to spend money to be successful in Persona 5: The Phantom X.)

To pull on a contract banner, you must first convert either premium currency into a contract banner’s respective ticket:

  • Limited-time character contracts — Platinum Ticket
  • Standard character contracts — Gold Ticket
  • Newcomer contracts — Gold Ticket
  • Weapon contracts — Platinum Milicoin

For the character contracts, you’ll need to convert 150 of either premium currency to create one of the tickets. However, for the weapon contracts, you’ll only need to convert 100 of either premium currency to create the Platinum Milicoin.

If you’d like to save some time, you can create 10 tickets or milicoins at once by converting 1,500 or 1,000 of either premium currency. Then, you can use your tickets or milicoins to pull for characters or weapons depending on the banner.

For more information on each banner type and their contract rates, check out the sections below.

Limited-time character contract banners

Limited-time character contract banners work super similarly to other games with limited-time banners. This is where you’ll find the “Most Wanted” Phantom Idols like Joker/Ren Amamiya, but these banners will only stick around for a short amount of time. As for the gacha rates on the limited-time characters, the odds are as follows:

  • 0.8% chance of receiving a five-star character
  • 6.2% chance of receiving a four-star character
  • 93% chance of receiving a two-star character
  • 80 pulls to guarantee a five-star character
  • 10 pulls to guarantee a four-star or higher character

The first time you receive a five-star contract from the limited-time banner, there is a 50% chance you’ll receive the “Most Wanted” character, which is the promotional five-star character. If you were unlucky and received a different five-star character, you’re guaranteed to get the “Most Wanted” character as your next five-star contract.

Standard character contract banners

The standard character contract banner is similar to the limited-time contract banner, but it’s a permanent banner that does not feature any promotional characters. The gacha rates for the standard banner is as follows:

  • 0.8% chance of receiving a five-star character
  • 6.2% chance of receiving a four-star character
  • 93% chance of receiving a two-star character
  • 80 pulls to guarantee a five-star character
  • 10 pulls to guarantee a four-star or higher character

After you draw 300 contracts, you can choose one of the following five-star characters to permanently unlock:

  • Ryuji Sakamoto
  • Morgana
  • Ann Takamaki
  • Yaoling Li
  • Haruna Nishimori

Newcomer contract banner

The newcomer contract banner is your standard beginner banner in other gacha games. To help you progress through the story, you can unlock a powerful five-star character at a much quicker pace through this banner. The gacha rates for this banner are as follows:

  • 0.8% chance of receiving a five-star character
  • 6.2% chance of receiving a four-star character
  • 93% chance of receiving a two-star character
  • 10 pulls to guarantee a four-star or higher character

For the newcomer banner, you will only need to pay eight Gold Tickets to draw 10 contracts as opposed to the typical 10 Gold Tickets. Additionally, after you draw 50 contracts, you’ll unlock one five-star Phantom Thief of your choosing:

  • Ryuji Sakamoto
  • Morgana
  • Ann Takamaki

Weapon contract banners

Weapon contract banners are where you’ll find powerful weapons to buff your characters. The weapon contract banners function similarly to the other banners except for the gacha rates and pity count. The gacha rates and pity counts are as follows:

  • 0.8% chance of receiving a five-star weapon
  • 8% chance of receiving a four-star weapon
  • 91.2% chance of receiving a three-star weapon
  • 70 pulls to guarantee a five-star weapon
  • 10 pulls to guarantee a four-star or higher weapon

Before you start drawing contracts, make sure to edit the weapon selections on the banner. You can select up to three weapons with the weapon in the first slot having a 50% chance to drop, while the other two weapons will both have a 25% chance to drop. If you don’t receive your primary weapon choice as the first five-star contract, you’re guaranteed to draw it on your next five-star contract.
