DECATUR, Ala. (WHNT) – Decatur Youth Services is hosting an event Thursday to focus on men’s mental and physical health during Men’s Mental Health Month.
The former Director of the Huntsville Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and nationally certified counselor, Kenny Anderson, will host “Empowering Masculinity: Managing The Man.”
The event will be at the Turner Surles Center in Decatur on Thursday, June 26, starting at 6 p.m. Vendors from the Morgan County Mental Health Association, Albany Clinic, Covenant Counseling, Wellstone, Decatur Morgan Hospital and Ross Drug & Alcohol will be attending.
“The event is to bring awareness of the need for men to support each other by holding one another accountable to take care of ourselves and our families, and to empower men to be proud of their masculinity, and to use it in the right way,” said DYS Director Bruce Jones. “As men, we have to do a better job of reaching back to our young men to make sure we are imparting into them the manhood and the maturity they need to be successful in life physically, emotionally, financially and spiritually.”
