EXCLUSIVE: Elstree Studios, the historic UK film studio home to The Crown and Strictly Come Dancing, has teamed with The MBS Group to manage its operations.

Elstree, located just north of London in Borehamwood, has recently celebrated its centenary, a milestone that has allowed it to reflect on housing productions including Star Wars, The Shining, and Indiana Jones.

Elstree has signed a deal with The MBS Group, hoping to improve the experience of production partners who use the facility. Financial details were not disclosed.

The MBS Group manages 650 soundstages around the world, including Avatar facility Manhattan Beach Studios and Eastbrook Studios in London.

Jeremy Newmark, leader of Hertsmere Borough Council and Elstree Studios chair, said: “It is particularly fitting to be announcing this new partnership at the start of a centenary programme which is all about pride, progress and partnerships – connecting our rich history with our ambition to secure our place at the forefront of the creative industries.”

Jason Hariton, chief studio and real estate officer at The MBS Group, described Elstree as “a cornerstone of global cinematic history.”
