A security guard who was fatally shot outside a bar in Anaheim over the weekend is being remembered as a husband, “protector” and father of five.
Salvador “Sal” Ramirez, 48, was found outside the 99 Bottles & Cocktails sports lounge with a gunshot wound to his head Sunday night.
The Fountain Valley resident was rushed to a local hospital, where his family says he was placed on life support but was pronounced dead the next day.
“Sal was not only a protector — he was deeply loving, selfless, and warm. He had a huge heart and was always accommodating and helpful to everyone around him. At work, he was known for looking after female patrons, defending his coworkers, and making everyone feel safe. Regulars adored him. His coworkers respected him. And anyone who met him quickly saw the kindness in his soul,” a post on the fundraiser website GoFundMe stated.
Ramirez’s sister-in-law created the GoFundMe page to help his family with funeral arrangements, provide support for Ramirez’s wife and children, and any ongoing expenses related to the “tragic and senseless act.”
Police arriving at the scene Sunday night were unable to locate Ramirez’s killer, who was believed to have fled on foot.
Homicide investigators are asking anyone with information on the case to call the Orange County Sheriff’s Department at 714-647-7000.
