EXCLUSIVE: Here’s a first look at Katherine Kelly in In Flight, the latest high-stakes plane thriller that could take the TV world by storm.
Check out pics above and below to see Kelly and others as things play out in a world of drug smuggling, crime and deception in the series written and co-created by Mike Walden (Marcella, Whitstable Pearl) and Adam Randall (Slow Horses, iBoy).
In the series, which has been bought by Channel 4, ProSieben, SBS and TVNZ, Kelly plays single mum and flight attendant Jo Conran, who is coerced into using her job to smuggle drugs by Cormac (Stuart Martin) after her son is imprisoned in Bulgaria for a murder he swears he did not commit.
As Jo becomes ensnared in the murky underworld of corruption and hired killers, she is forced to carry out their orders while desperately trying to find a way out. She turns to her ex, Customs Officer Dom Delaney (Ashley Thomas), for help. However, no matter how far Jo finds herself from her old life, her mission remains the same, to keep her son alive.
Kelly is best known for playing the villainous Angela van den Bogerd in ITV’s BAFTA-winning Mr Bates vs the Post Office. She is joined by new cast members Bronagh Waugh as Melanie, Harry Cadby as Sonny, Corinna Brown as Kayla and Ambreen Razia as Zara.
Produced by Buccaneer Media, the series is set across Bangkok, Bulgaria, Istanbul and London, with filming having taken place in Belfast earlier this year, supported by funding from Northern Ireland Screen. Producer is Brendan Mullin (Wreck, Dalgliesh) and director is Chris Baugh (Wreck, Tin Star). Executive producers are Anna Burns, Richard Tulk-Hart and Tony Wood for Buccaneer, Rebecca Dundon and Simon Judd for Fremantle, Walden, Randall, Kelly and Baugh. Fremantle is handling global sales.
