The social media influencer known as the “Liver King” has been arrested in Texas and charged with making a “terroristic threat,” according to reports.
Austin jail records shows that a Brian Johnson, 47, had been arrested and was being held at Travis County Jail as of June 25. Kxan-TV, an Austin news station, confirmed that the man listed in the jail logs was the social media influencer, citing unnamed sources.
A video on Johnson’s Instagram page shows police arresting him and putting him into a police car.
It comes after Johnson threatened to fight podcaster Joe Rogan in a series of videos, including one in which he was holding guns.
“Joe Rogan, I’m calling you out, my name’s Liver King. Man to man, I’m picking a fight with you. I have no training in Jiu-jitsu, you’re a black belt, you should dismantle me. But I’m picking a fight with you. Your rules, I’ll come to you, whenever you’re ready,” he said in a video on June 23.
Officials have not yet confirmed the nature of Johnson’s threat, who it was made to, and whether it was related to the videos directed to Rogan. A terroristic threat is a Class B misdemeanor.
Newsweek has contacted the Austin Police Department for comment by email outside of regular working hours.
