HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — A woman was arrested and is now facing charges after breaking into a vehicle and sending threatening text messages to her ex-boyfriend.

Huntsville Police officers responded to a reported domestic dispute in the 2500 block of Greenhill Drive on Sunday around 5 p.m..

Upon arrival, officers noticed a white SUV leaving the area. Police identified the suspect as Destinee Renee Parks, 31, of Huntsville.

According to police, Parks was detained and admitted to authorities that she was trying to return a firearm that belonged to her ex-boyfriend.

Officers then turned their attention to the ex-boyfriend, who told police that Parks came to his home and caused a disturbance earlier that day.

He also told police that he believed Parks broke into his vehicle and stole his firearm.

A member of the Property Crimes Unit was then called to lead the investigation.

Based on collected evidence, it was determined that Parks had been at the home earlier and had unlawfully entered the man’s vehicle. The investigation also revealed that Parks had sent threatening text messages to the victim.

After interviews and reviewing the evidence, Parks was arrested and charged with domestic violence harassing communications, and unlawful breaking and entering of a vehicle.

She was booked into the Madison County Jail and was issued a $2,800 bond.
