The Boston Celtics entered the offseason knowing they’d need to trim salary off their books and wasted no time in doing so.
More Celtics news: Celtics Send Jrue Holiday to Blazers for Anfernee Simons in Blockbuster Trade
On Monday night, the Celtics traded their veteran guard Jrue Holiday in exchange for Anfernee Simons and two second-round picks. Moving Holiday was not a surprise, but the package in return certainly was.
The Celtics will continue to make moves as the offseason goes along. Boston can go a handful of directions to trim the salary, and one way they can do so is by trading their star guard, Jaylen Brown.
Brown has been pivotal for the Celtics since the moment he arrived in Beantown. He helped the team secure their 18th title in franchise history in 2024, but there is a chance we saw the last of him in the second round of the playoffs in the green and white.
In a recent appearance on Stephen A. Smith, ESPN’s Shams Charania shared that many NBA teams have shown interest in the four-time All-Star.
There are multiple teams that have “significant interest” in Jaylen Brown, per @ShamsCharania “The Celtics prefer to not trade Jaylen Brown but listen the offers that they are getting right now and the conversations are gonna be had, does it reach the value?” pic.twitter.com/njtybyizPB

“The Celtics prefer to not trade Jaylen Brown but listen the offers that they are getting right now and the conversations are gonna be had, does it reach the value?”
Brown is coming off a season in which he battled through a knee issue that he eventually underwent surgery on. In the season, Brown averaged 22.2 points per game, 5.8 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.2 steals while shooting 46.3 percent from the field and 32.4 percent from beyond the arc in 34.3 minutes of action.
As for the playoffs, he did all he could to lead his team to another deep run. In 11 games, Brown averaged 22.1 points per game, 7.1 rebounds and 3.9 assists in 36.5 minutes of action.
There had been rumors that Brown could be traded this offseason, as the Celtics continue to trim a significant amount of money off their books. While that seems unlikely, Charania says he wouldn’t necessarily count it out.
This offseason is projected to be a wild one, and we are certainly on that course.
There is a chance that this Celtic team could look significantly different in the coming weeks.
