Tommy Fleetwood is one round away from rewriting the narrative. After years of near-misses and 41 top-10 finishes without a PGA Tour title, the Englishman heads into Sunday’s final round with a three-shot lead at 16-under.

Fleetwood fired a bogey-free 63 on Saturday at TPC River Highlands, highlighted by 5 birdies and a soaring eagle at the par-5 13th.

It was his lowest round of the season and just one stroke shy of his career best. Currently, he leads Keegan Bradley and Russell Henley by 3, with Jason Day 5 shots back.

For Fleetwood, it’s not just another leaderboard but a long-awaited shot at silencing the one stat that’s followed him for years.

That stat—zero PGA Tour wins—was thrust back into the spotlight earlier this week when NFL insider Adam Schefter, moonlighting as an on-course reporter at Travelers Championship.

He compared Fleetwood to Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott. Now, Fleetwood has responded without naming names, but with unmistakable clarity.

“I don’t know, I’m on top of a lot of stat lines for people that haven’t won on the PGA TOUR, so to always be a No. 1 at something is always nice,” he said with a laugh after Saturday’s round.

“Yeah, of course I would love to win on the PGA TOUR. I think it’s like an element of your career that everybody wants, and I of course want it.”

“I’ve given myself like a back-end chance a couple of times this year, but I’ve not been in contention. So this is like my first real chance, so I’m really excited about that and looking forward to it.”

Fleetwood also acknowledged the pressure that builds with each close call.

“The longer things go on, the more people talk about it, of course they do,” he said.

“But there’s also things that I’m very proud about as well, like my consistency, where I stand in FedExCup and World Rankings. So there’s a lot to be happy about.”

The 34-year-old holds 10 professional wins, including seven on the DP World Tour. One can also not ignore his Ryder Cup success in 2018 and 2023.

“I’m not going to be silly and say I don’t care about it. Of course I want to win, and hopefully it will happen sooner rather than later,” he added.

Fleetwood will tee off in Sunday’s final group at 2:35 p.m. ET, chasing not just a trophy, but a long-awaited breakthrough that could finally silence the noise
