NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Moments after President Donald Trump’s announcement that the United States had bombed three Iranian nuclear sites, Tennessee lawmakers gave their reactions.
President Trump has made a courageous decision to seek peace through strength. @MariaLeeTN and I pray earnestly for the safety of our troops across the Middle East and for the sovereignty of Israel.
Gov. Bill Lee, who reposted Trump’s X post.
.@POTUS’s decisive leadership enforced deadlines and redlines. This was a tough decision, one that, as always, President Trump put the interests of the American people first in making. May this be the end of Iran’s nuclear weapon ambitions and lay the groundwork for lasting peace.
.@realDonaldTrump knows peace can only be achieved through strength. This is a victory for the United States.
In addition to the post, Blackburn attached a screenshot of Trump’s Truth Social post announcing the attack. Representative Charles “Chuck” Fleischmann reposted Blackburn’s post.
President Trump has tried over and over again to come to a peaceful agreement with Iran, but they have refused to work with us. While I believe war should never be an option, I am proud of President Trump and our military on a successful operation to deter the spread of war in the Middle East.
U.S. Rep. Diana Harshbarger, in addition to reposting Trump’s X post
We must end Iran’s nuclear ambitions and protect American lives. Praise God for a successful mission—keep praying for our country.
U.S. Rep. Andy Ogles, who also included an emoticon of the American flag and reposted a screenshot of Trump’s Truth Social post
The United States has given Tehran every opportunity to forgo its nuclear ambitions; it has repeatedly refused. President Trump made the right decision. A nuclear armed Iran would be detrimental to the existence of our ally Israel, the stability of the Middle East, and our own national security.
Thank you, @realDonaldTrump, for demonstrating strong leadership on the World stage. Iran should never have a nuclear weapon. This is peace through strength!
U.S. Rep. David Kustoff, who also included an emoticon of the American flag and reposted a screenshot of Trump’s Truth Social post
Rep. William Lamberth (R-Portland) reposted Trump’s X post.
Thankful for a decisive President of action who has ensured Iran will not obtain a nuclear weapon. Much to pray for tonight, primarily peace and wisdom for our leaders.
Rep. Jason Zachary (R-Knoxville), reposting a post from another news organization
He said he would keep us out of wars- honestly- how much grift is MAGA willing to imbibe? This is all for Netanyahu and Putin- devastating what he’s done to our country and our planet.
Sen. Heidi Campbell (D-Nashville)
Sen. Bo Watson (R-Hixson) reposted Blackburn’s post.
Governor, we can’t bomb our way to peace. This reckless military aggression will put many more lives in danger. Disappointed to see you cheering on this march toward death and desolation. Dangerous times.
Rep. Justin Jones (D-Nashville), in a response to Lee’s post.
