Indiana Pacers star guard Tyrese Haliburton suffered a severe leg injury and has exited Game 7 of the NBA Finals.

ESPN’s Lisa Salters shared via the ABC broadcast that Haliburton will not return with a right leg lower-body injury.

Haliburton was being helped off the floor, putting no weight on that right leg. The severity of the injury has yet to be announced, but from the looks of it, it appears to be a severe one that will not only affect the Pacers in this contest but also impact them for next season.

The 25-year-old started Game 7 hot, shooting 3-of-5 from the field, collecting nine points before exiting the game with all his field goals coming from beyond the arc.

Prior to Game 7, Haliburton had been dealing with a calf injury that had hindered his play since Game 5. The Pacers guard initially suffered a calf injury in Game 5 in Oklahoma City.

The Pacers dropped that contest, and Haliburton played arguably his worst game of the season. In that contest, Haliburton made some unfortunate history, becoming the first player in NBA Finals history to finish with zero made field goals, zero steals, zero blocks, at least three turnovers, and at least three fouls while playing more than 30 minutes. By a number of metrics, it stands as one of the most disappointing individual performances the Finals has ever seen.

On Saturday, Haliburton mentioned that he will be ready for Game 7 despite the injury.

“I’ll be ready to go for Game 7,” said Haliburton.

Although Haliburton has been hit or miss in these Finals, he has still been a vital piece to the Pacers’ success this season. In six games of these Finals, Haliburton has averaged 14.8 points per game, 6.8 assists, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.3 steals while shooting 44.7 percent from the field and 31.7 percent from three-point range in 33.7 minutes of action.
