John Haliburton, the father of Pacers star guard Tyrese Haliburton, shared that his son’s leg injury is an Achilles injury.

More Indiana Pacers and Tyrese Haliburton news: Pacers’ Tyrese Haliburton Leaves Game 7 After Suffering Leg Injury

ESPN’s Lisa Salters shared the news on the ABC broadcast.

Haliburton had to be helped off the court, unable to put any weight on his right leg. With the official diagnosis now confirmed, the injury is as serious as it initially appeared and could have long-term implications, not just for this Game 7, but will also impact the Pacers’ outlook next season.

The 25-year-old got off to a strong start before exiting, scoring nine points on 3-of-5 shooting — all three makes coming from deep.

Haliburton had already been battling through a calf issue sustained in Game 5 in Oklahoma City, which clearly limited his mobility over the past two games.

Through the first six games of the Finals, Haliburton was averaging 14.8 points, 6.8 assists, 5.3 rebounds and 1.3 steals, while shooting 44.7 percent from the floor and 31.7 percent from three in 33.7 minutes per game.

As far as the postseason goes, Haliburton has been everything and more for the Pacers, averaging 17.7 points per game, 9.0 assists, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.4 steals while shooting 46.1 percent from the field and 32.9 percent from three in 34.8 minutes and 22 games.

Haliburton has been the driving force behind the Pacers’ success, and now they’ll be without him for the remainder of Game 7 — and potentially the entire 2025-26 season. His Achilles injury marks the third such devastating setback in this year’s playoffs.

Milwaukee Bucks star Damian Lillard suffered an Achilles injury during the first round against Indiana, and Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum went down with a similar injury in the second round versus the New York Knicks. Now, Haliburton joins that unfortunate list.

The Pacers will do all they can to not only keep their head above water but also come away with a championship, with their top player on their side.
