A baby girl born with brown hair is going viral thanks to her transformation into a bright redhead.
Mom Jordan Peel (@jomamaliz) posted a clip of the before-and-after of baby Sevyn’s changing hair color.
The video features Sevyn swaddled in a baby blanket with her brown hair on full display. It then cuts to a clip of the now 16-month-old toddling around with striking red locks—and Jordan is “obsessed” with how she looks now.
“I started noticing the red within the first couple of months once her hair started growing and getting longer,” the 25-year-old told Newsweek. “I was so excited for her to have the red hair because I think it’s so cute, and was shocked that it was red because her dad’s hair is super dark brown, almost black.”
But as it turns out, Sevyn’s fiery shade is a gift from mom. “She gets the red hair from me,” Jordan confirmed. “I was born with ‘fire engine red hair,’ as my mom would say, which actually later turned blonde.”
Jordan’s clip has amassed 1.8 million views since it was posted at the beginning of the month.
Other users are loving Sevyn’s transformation in the comments. “She is beautiful,” one user wrote.
“How freaking adorable is she?” added another.
Many other fellow parents shared how their baby’s hair color had changed since birth.
“My daughter was born with a head full of beautiful black hair and now she has the softest, bouncy blonde curls,” another mom wrote.
Jordan told Newsweek her clip has made people hopeful their baby or future baby might have red hair.
“They’re sharing their experiences with having red-haired babies [and] children or how their child’s hair has changed as well,” she added.
But Sevyn’s appeal isn’t just about her hair—her name carries a powerful story, too. Jordan explained that Sevyn, pronounced Seven, was named after Atlanta’s Station 7, the team of first responders who saved her life after a devastating car accident in high school.
“[I] suffered injuries to my spine and stomach,” Jordan told Newsweek. “I was in a medically induced coma for a week and had multiple emergency surgeries.”
Jordan attributes her full recovery, to first responders, doctors and nurses: “If it weren’t for them, I wouldn’t be here and wouldn’t have been able to give life to my daughter.”
