Police are searching for two drivers connected to a fatal a hit-and-run involving three different vehicles that occurred on Saturday night.

Per the Long Beach Police Department, officers were dispatched to the area of Ocean Boulevard and Falcon Avenue on reports of a collision around 9:30 p.m.

A man was found lying in the roadway when officers arrived. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

His identity was not released.

“The preliminary investigation revealed an unknown dark colored sedan was traveling eastbound on Ocean Boulevard when it struck an adult male pedestrian in a marked crosswalk at the intersection of Falcon Avenue. The driver immediately fled the collision,” LBPD said in a news release. “A [second vehicle] was traveling eastbound on Ocean Boulevard when it struck the pedestrian lying in the roadway. This driver immediately pulled over after they realized they were involved in a collision.”

The 59-year-old Tustin resident driving the second vehicle — a BMW X3 — is said to be cooperating with police.

After the second collision, a third vehicle, only described as a dark colored sedan, was traveling eastbound on Ocean Boulevard when it too struck the pedestrian in the roadway, according to police.

The driver of the third car did not stop to render aid or identify themselves as required by law.

“At this time speed and distracted driving are being considered as contributing factors in the collision involving the vehicles which fled the scene,” Long Beach police said.

Anyone who may have information regarding this incident is asked to contact LBPD Collision Investigation Detail Detective Kevin Johansen at 562-570-7355. Anonymous tips may be submitted through “LA Crime Stoppers” by calling 1-800-222-8477 or visiting www.lacrimestoppers.org.
