HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — A Huntsville man is facing multiple charges after being involved in a shootout on Tuesday.
Huntsville Police said that officers responded to a report of possible gunfire in the 100 block of Properzi Way around 7:30 p.m.
Upon arrival, officers found evidence that confirmed that shots were fired in the area.
Upon further investigation, officers determined that two individuals were involved in a confrontation and exchanged gunfire.
HPD said that in the midst of the two individuals shooting at each other, two homes and two unoccupied vehicles were also hit by bullets in the process.
Huntsville Police told News 19 that no one was injured during the incident.
A Violent Crimes Unit investigator then responded to the scene and began an investigation.
Through the course of the investigation, Mario Vontrell Thomas, 23, of Huntsville was identified as a suspect.
HPD said that Thomas was found at a nearby home and was taken into custody.
Based on evidence that was recovered, Thomas was charged with one count of discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling, two counts of discharging a firearm into an unoccupied automobile, and ex-felon in possession of a firearm.
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional arrests are expected.
According to police, all evidence suggests this was an isolated incident between the individuals involved.
Thomas was booked into the Madison County Jail and was issued a $35,000 bond.
