From fixing orders to fixing cars.
The Georgia Burger King worker who hopped in to help his coworkers during a late-night rush while still wearing his high school graduation stole and medals has decided on his next step.
Mykale Baker announced he is heading to Gwinnett Technical College starting in the fall to pursue a career in automotive technology, according to 11 Alive.
The 18-year-old Mills Creek High School graduate aspires to become an auto mechanic, with the hope of opening his shop one day.
The school, based in Lawrenceville, Ga., is located just miles away from where Baker took the internet by storm when he helped out his fellow workers on his big night on May 21.
Baker was spotted by eagle-eyed drive-through customer, Maria Mendoza, as he bagged orders inside the Dacula burger joint.
Mendoza captured the moment on video and posted to TikTok where it went viral, having been viewed over 4.5 million times.
“TikTok do your thing, this young boy went straight to work at Burger King right after graduation,” Mendoza captioned the post.
Spurred by the heartwarming responses from her viewers – and Baker’s selfless act – Mendoza created a GoFundMe to raise some extra cash for the teen’s college career.
The fundraiser has since raised $231,600, a whopping 386 percent increase from the initial $60,000 goal.
“Some of the money is going to go into fixing my car and the rest is going into a trust fund for school purposes only,” Baker told Today in early June.
The teen had initially planned to take a gap year before pursuing a degree from a technical school, because of financial difficulties, but has decided to forego the time off and continue his education, after being raised by a single mom with nine siblings.
“I don’t think he’s ever noticed how selfless he is until now,” Baker’s sister, Mycah, told The Post.
“He’s always done these things without a lot of people seeing it. It’s something that comes naturally to him.”
Baker and Mendoza’s daughter, who graduated alongside the fast food employee at Mills Creek, each received a $10,000 scholarship from the Burger King Foundation.
Mendoza’s daughter, Daizie, will be attending Georgia State University in the fall to study neuroscience.
“It’s brought our families together,” Baker told Today. “She’s a part of my family, and I’m a part of hers now.”
“Thank you everyone, I have no words that can express how thankful and blessed I am,” Mendoza wrote on a follow up TikTok video.
