EXCLUSIVE: Finnish actress and filmmaker Salla Kozma has launched her own production house.
Pig & Horse Productions has debuted as a docs and unscripted formats producer, with bases in Monaco and Finland.
Kozma is working with former Fremantle Finland Head of Development Anssi Rimpelä on several projects, including Pig & Horse’s debut program, a 80-minute high-end art mystery doc titled Reflections of Gaugin.
The 80-minute doc is currently in production and delves into the mystifying world of infamous art, wealth and power. Per the synopsis: “A seemingly simple painting becomes the centre of an intense investigation into the murky intersection of art, authenticity, and commerce.” Kozma herself will embark on a “compelling, unpredictable journey” as she searches for the painting’s origins and challenges the very concept of what makes a masterpiece.
Pig & Horse will broadly look to develop socially-impactful documentaries and non-scripted TV formats for global distribution. It plans to make several additions to its slate in the coming months, with a focus on harnessing European creativity. The company’s launch is timed for a debut at the Sheffield DocFest, which got underway yesterday, and Sunny Side of the Doc later this month.

Kozma has acted in the likes of Miia Tervo’s Aurora, MTV3 crime series Roba and YLE comedy-drama HasBeen, but has several other irons in the fire. She is a producer and the founder and Chair of the Post Theatre Collective in Finland.
Unscripted producer Rimpelä, who has over 20 years of experience producing formats, will work with her on several shows. He is known played an important role in localizing 27 formats for the Finnish market, including Pop Idol, Got Talent, X Factor and Best Singers. Rimpelä is the CEO of Finnish creative studio, Up to Level Media, which he founded in 2017.
