HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — After a round of rain and storms tracked through the area on Wednesday, the Weather Authority will be monitoring another chance of rain activity early Thursday morning.
After a brief lull in precipitation, another round of rain and storms will make its way to the Tennessee Valley.
A line of rain will develop to the west of the area and then track eastward into Northwest Alabama just after midnight. Embedded within the line, isolated strong to severe storms and pockets of moderate to heavy rain will be possible. The majority of the activity should end by mid to late morning on Thursday. IF the atmosphere can recover, a second line of storms may develop by the afternoon and evening.
Rain and storms may impact the morning commute, so allow yourself extra time on Thursday.
The Storm Prediction Center has highlighted the Tennessee Valley under a ‘Marginal Risk’ (level 1 out of 5) for severe storms development late Wednesday night into Thursday. This means strong to severe storms will be isolated in coverage.
The strongest storms will be capable of producing winds over 50 mph, large hail, frequent lightning, and heavy rain. Areas that have experienced heavy rain in previous days will need to be monitored for the threat of localized flooding.
Stick with The Weather Authority for the latest on Thursday morning’s storm threat!
