Summary

  • Hermès brings its interactive installation “Mystery at the Groom’s” from Shanghai to Pier 36 in New York City
  • Guests solve a playful mystery through immersive rooms, blending storytelling with the brand’s signature craftsmanship and equestrian heritage
  • The free experience runs June 18–29, with limited walk-in slots available daily on a first-come, first-served basis

Hermès is set to open “Mystery at the Groom’s,” its second interactive installation, in Pier 36 – Downtown Manhattan. The immersive experience brings the brand’s equestrian heritage to life, showcasing its craftsmanship, history and whimsical storytelling.

Originally debuted in Shanghai in late 2023, the installation is set within a fictional French estate — The Groom’s House — where the caretakers of Hermès’ horses reside. But something’s amiss: the horses have mysteriously vanished. Guests are invited to solve the mystery using their phones to receive clues and track progress as they move through a series of elaborately designed rooms.

Hermès products are seamlessly woven into each room, doubling as functional props to highlight the versatility and artistry of the house’s design. The experience is timed, adding a sense of urgency to the mission, and those who successfully find the horses receive a parting gift — a memorable takeaway that ties the experience together.

The installation runs from June 18 to 29, 2025 at Pier 36 in New York City and is free of charge. While advance bookings are sold out, walk-ins are welcome during limited time slots (11:00 AM–1:00 PM, 2:30 PM–3:45 PM, and 5:00 PM–6:30 PM) on a first-come, first-served basis. For those who miss the New York stop, the installation is set to expand to Tokyo, Singapore and Paris later this year.
