Summary

  • Supreme has teamed up with Zoo York, NYC’s pioneering 1993 skateboard company for a Spring 2025 collection
  • The collaboration pays tribute to Zoo York’s iconic 1997 skate video, The Zoo York Mixtape, which famously blended skate footage with freestyles from hip-hop legends
  • The release includes a range of apparel (Soccer Jersey, Hooded Sweatshirt, Baggy Jean, Soccer Short, T-Shirts, Camp Cap, Beanie) and skate gear (Skateboard, Spitfire® Classic Wheels)

In an homage to the gritty, authentic origins of East Coast skateboarding and street culture, Supreme has announced a landmark collaboration with Zoo York for Spring 2025. This partnership celebrates Zoo York’s pioneering role as New York City’s first major skateboard company, which, since its establishment in 1993, has proudly exposed the city’s distinct style to a global audience.

Born from the concrete jungle, Zoo York emerged at a time when Southern California dominated the skateboarding industry. While West Coast skate companies drew inspiration from punk rock, East Coast skateboarders were deeply intertwined with New York City’s homegrown subcultures: graffiti and hip-hop. Zoo York masterfully captured this intersection, cementing its influence with the seminal 1997 skate video, The Zoo York Mixtape.

Filmed by RB Umali and debuted at the New York Underground Film Festival, The Zoo York Mixtape was more than just a skate video. It was a cultural document, blending raw skate footage from legendary team members like Harold Hunter, Jefferson Pang, Robbie Gangemi and Peter Bici, with electrifying freestyle clips of hip-hop giants like Method Man, Ghostface Killah, Busta Rhymes and Fat Joe from the iconic Stretch and Bobbito radio show. The video vividly showcased how New York City skateboarders adapted to the city’s harsh climate and rough spots, developing a unique grit and refined style that made a transformative impact on global skateboarding. Today, The Zoo York Mixtape endures as a testament to a golden era in New York City skateboarding and hip-hop history.

The Supreme x Zoo York Spring 2025 collection directly taps into this rich heritage, featuring a comprehensive range of apparel and accessories that blend both brands’ aesthetics. The lineup includes a Soccer Jersey, a Hooded Sweatshirt, Baggy Jean and Soccer Short, alongside two distinct T-Shirts. Completing the collection are a Camp Cap, Beanie, a co-branded Skateboard and Spitfire® Classic Wheels, ensuring fans can embrace the collaboration from head to toe, and underfoot.

Look out for the Supreme x Zoo York collaboration to roll out via the brand’s webstore and brick-and-mortar locations on June 19 and available in Asia on June 21.
