Iran may get a ‘last chance’ from Trump to accept nuclear deal: report

President Trump reportedly plans to offer Iran a “last chance” to accept a nuclear deal amid Israeli attacks on Tehran.

The proposal is expected to keep the Trump administration’s red line that the Iranian regime engage in no uranium enrichment, but could be “slightly better” than a previous offer made about a week and a half ago, the Jerusalem Post reported on Monday, citing US and European officials.

The White House did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment on a potential final nuclear deal offer to the Iranians.

Washington and Tehran commenced negotiations in April on a new agreement to replace the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), from which Trump removed the US in 2018.

The talks have not gone very far as the Islamic Republic insists on the right to continue enriching uranium as part of any new nuclear deal – a nonstarter for Trump.

As Iran appeared on the brink of building a nuclear warhead, Israel launched “Operation Rising Lion” last week – sending warplanes to bomb Iranian above-ground nuclear sites and targeting top scientists and leaders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

The military operation also came at the conclusion of a 60-day window Trump gave Iran to strike a deal that would rid them of their capabilities to develop a nuclear weapon.

Iran has retaliated by directing ballistic missile barrages toward Israel, some of which have hit civilian areas, resulting in deaths.

“They have to make a deal, and it’s painful for both parties, but I’d say Iran is not winning this war, and they usually talk, and they should talk immediately, before it’s too late,” Trump said Monday at the G7 summit in Alberta.

The Trump administration maintains that it has not been helping Israel facilitate its attacks on Iran, but in a Truth Social post Monday night, the president alarmingly called for the capital of the Islamic Republic to be evacuated.

“Iran should have signed the ‘deal’ I told them to sign. What a shame, and waste of human life,” Trump wrote. “Simply stated, IRAN CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON. I said it over and over again!”

“Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran!”
