Police are investigating after reports of a hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian in downtown Los Angeles Sunday.

Details are limited and it’s unclear how the incident at 5th and Hills streets unfolded. Preliminary, though unconfirmed reports suggested the woman was protesting in an ongoing demonstration when she was struck.

Medical personnel with the L.A. Fire Department responded to the corner where video posted to the Citizen App showed paramedics treating the victim, described only as a woman in her 20’s.

In a news release, fire officials said the victim was hit by a motorist driving at a slow speed and suffered an “isolated lower extremity injury.”

Footage on Citizen also showed a police helicopter circling the downtown area, presumably searching for the involved driver who fled the scene, failing to stop, identify themselves and render aid.

So far, police have not released a description of the vehicle.

A similar hit-and-run occurred Saturday evening at a “No Kings” demonstration in Riverside, according to the Riverside Police Department.

The victim in that case, also a woman, suffered significant injuries, though officials said she was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

Footage from the scene posted to social media shows protesters running up to a black car, which then turns in an aggressive manner and plows into what appeared to be multiple people, though officials did not mention other injuries.

An active search is underway for that driver as well.
