LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — Neighbors who live off of County Road 23 are stunned after a deadly shooting that occurred on Friday morning.
Lauderdale County deputies were called to a home on County Road 23, where they found a man with a gunshot wound dead inside a vehicle.
That man has since been identified as 33-year-old Antoine Akl, of Toney, Alabama.
The Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office has released minor details, and in a news release, Sheriff Joe Hamilton said a man drove to a home on County Road 23 around 2:00 a.m. on Friday and met an underage person outside of the house.

“I am just shocked, in my 56 years of living here, I am shocked, if police are called to this street, you know it’s something big, because it does not happen on a daily basis,” said neighbor Wesley Smith.
News 19 also reached out to the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office for additional details regarding the shooting. Sheriff Joe Hamilton released this statement to our newsroom;
“This remains an open investigation. Due to the complexity of this case, and the link to other open investigations, we will not be releasing any other information at this time.”
