EXCLUSIVE: Luke Brawley’s nonfiction agency Indox has boarded two debut feature titles: Hong Kong/Taiwan produced I Heard That They Are Not Going To See Each Other Anymore by Kaki Wong, which it will represent for worldwide festivals, and Irish title A Want In Her by Myrid Carten, for which Indox will manage UK cinema bookings.

Set for a UK and Ireland theatrical release in late 2025 through Break Out Pictures, A Want in Her is described as a “raw and compelling documentary.” The film debuted at IDFA and was produced by Kat Mansour (Cow), Tadhg O’Sullivan (To The Moon), and Roisin Geraghty (Sunlight).

The film follows Carten as she returns home to find her troubled mother Nuala. Once a successful social worker, Nuala suffered a mental breakdown after the sudden death of her own mother. She shuffles between rehab clinics, psychiatric hospitals, and occasionally the street. When Nuala goes missing somewhere in Ireland, Myrid returns from London to find her and picks up her camera again in response to this new crisis. Home videos from Carten’s childhood and recordings of video installations from her current work as an artist form the film’s hybrid fiction-documentary form.

Break Out Pictures will handle distribution across Irish cinemas, with Indox managing UK bookings.

“We are delighted to be working with Indox and bringing A Want in Her to cinemas across the UK later this year,” Nell Roddy of Break Out Pictures said in a statement.  “Myrid’s film represents the very best in global independent cinema — it’s an extraordinary debut feature.”

I Heard That They Are Not Going To See Each Other Anymore, the debut feature from Wong, is described as a dreamlike hybrid work that blends unscripted interviews with its cast, including Melih Selçuk (Milk, Brother’s Keeper), to create a fictionalised meta-narrative. The film follows a group of curious characters as they navigate the complexities of relationships in a modern city.

“Blurring the lines between fiction and non-fiction has been a challenging but deeply personal journey for me,” Wong said of the project. “It’s a form of filmmaking that doesn’t always follow a clear path, and can be difficult to communicate or convince audiences of, but I believe in it wholeheartedly. I’m grateful that Indox believes in this approach too, and that we share the same vision. With their support, I’m hopeful we can find the right home for this film and connect it with the audience it was made for.”

Originally from Hong Kong, Wong is now based in London. She graduated from the London Film School in March 2018. Her works have been screened at festivals such as Locarno Film Festival, Underwire Film Festival, and Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival. Originally from the Donegal Gaeltacht, Myrid Carten studied Fine Art at Goldsmiths University of London and Central Saint Martins. She has screened work internationally.

Indox founder Luke Brawley added: “Both films redefine the possibilities of nonfiction storytelling, and I’m excited to help introduce them to new audiences. I Heard That They Are Not Going To See Each Other Anymore is a truly singular work—Kaki’s direction resonated deeply and stayed with me long after watching. At the same time, Myrid’s A Want in Her is one of the most striking examples of creative nonfiction I’ve encountered in years, and I’m confident it will resonate just as powerfully with UK audiences.”
