A 15-year-old boy sitting at a bus stop was killed after being struck by a car in Long Beach.
On June 11, Long Beach police responded to a crash at Palo Verde Avenue and Carson Street shortly before 3 p.m.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a driver in an Infiniti G37 sedan was traveling westbound on Carson Street when it ran a red light at the Palo Verde Avenue intersection.
The Infiniti struck a Toyota Prius that was traveling southbound on Palo Verde Avenue.
The impact caused the Infiniti sedan to overturn. The car skidded onto a sidewalk and struck the 15-year-old boy who was sitting at the bus stop.
The boy was rushed to the hospital where he died from his injuries. The Infiniti driver was taken to the hospital in stable condition and the Prius driver was uninjured.
“At this time, speed appears to be a factor in the collision,” police said.
The 15-year-old boy’s identity was not released. The fatal crash remains under investigation.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call LBPD Detective Ashley Van Holland at 562-570-7355.
