Ambassador Kate Wyler (Keri Russell) probably thought that things would get easier once she solved the mystery surrounding the bombing of a British aircraft carrier in the Persian Gulf.
In reality, she now only finds herself in a more precarious position. Netflix released a trailer on Thursday that gives a glimpse into the realities of Kate’s situation now that she’s accused Vice President Grace Penn (Allison Janney) of hatching a terrorist plot and admitted she’s after the VP’s job.
The President is dead, which may or may not be the fault of Kate’s husband Hal (Rufus Sewell), and Penn has just taken over as Commander in Chief. But, apparently, that hasn’t deterred Hal from trying to win Kate the vice presidency.
The Season 3 trailer also teases a complicated relationship between Kate and newcomer, First Gentleman Todd Penn (Bradley Whitford).

Season 3 of The Diplomat picks up after a shocking Season 2 cliffhanger, which saw the President suddenly die, with Janney’s VP Grace Penn taking his place. The new season is currently in production in and around New York.
The series received an early renewal in October, ahead of the Season 2 premiere.
From creator, showrunner, and executive producer Debora Cahn, The Diplomat also stars Ali Ahn, Rory Kinnear, and Ato Essandoh. It is executive produced by Janice Williams, Alex Graves, and Keri Russell.
