EXCLUSIVE: Filipino-American actor and host KC Montero has joined the cast of upcoming neo-noir thriller Shadow Transit.
The cast already stars UK-based singer-songwriter Qymira and US-based, Indonesian-born actor Yoshi Sudarso.
Additionally, Canadian outfit APL Film has come onboard as the film’s official worldwide sales agent and distributor. The distribution deal was finalized during May’s Cannes Film Market.
Shadow Transit is the first English-language film from Pedring Lopez. Lopez previously helmed Netflix original action film Maria, which also starred Montero.
Shadow Transit follows a grief-stricken photojournalist and a haunted DJ who are forced to navigate the underbelly of Manila and Hong Kong, while evading a powerful crime syndicate.
The film is produced by BlackOps Studios Asia and ACT3, with principal photography scheduled to begin in July in Manila and Hong Kong.
“KC is a force on screen,” said Lopez. “It’s a privilege to work with him again and to bring his energy to Shadow Transit. Qymira and Yoshi are incredible talents who bring a depth and authenticity that elevate the film.
“This partnership with APL Film is a huge step forward. Their passion for innovative stories aligns perfectly with the vision we have for Shadow Transit. Having KC, Qymira, and Yoshi on board just makes the team even stronger,” added Lopez.
Brian Sweet, Global Sales Director at APL Film, said: “We’re incredibly excited to partner with BlackOps Studios Asia and ACT3 on Shadow Transit. This is the kind of film that’s both thrilling and atmospheric — a story that grabs you from the first page. We believe it has strong potential to resonate with festival audiences and international buyers alike.”
