Kate Beckinsale filed a lawsuit against the producers of her 2024 film, “Canary Black,” claiming she was repeatedly exposed to “dangerous and unsafe conditions” on set, resulting in “severe and debilitating injuries.”

The “Underworld” actress, who originally filed the complaint against Anton Entertainment Media Services, Inc., producer John Zois and more as a “Jane Doe” in December 2024, amended the suit to add her name in May.

In the lawsuit, obtained by Page Six, Beckinsale accused the company and its producers of negligence, intentional infliction of emotional distress and battery.

The “Serendipity” star, 51, claimed in the docs that she suffered a “complex meniscus tear in her left knee” during filming in December 2022. When she underwent surgery, production on the film was paused for months.

Once Beckinsale returned to the set in February 2023, she claimed in the suit that her orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Jason Snibbe, told her that she should not be asked to perform stunts that involved running, jumping, harness suspension, squatting or kicking.

However, Beckinsale claimed that she suffered more injury to her knee after her doctor’s orders were ignored and she was allegedly pressured into performing “unsafe action sequences.”

Due to the producers allegedly ignoring her doctor’s orders, Beckinsale claimed she suffered “significant trauma” to her knee after she was exposed to “dangerous and unsafe conditions” on the “Canary Black” set.

“Ms. Beckinsale and her team repeatedly raised red flags regarding unsafe conditions on and off set to Defendants, including long, dangerous set days, often lasting fifteen hours, inadequate equipment and medical personnel to help manage the high physical workload and recover from the exertion off set, and failure to adequately inform Ms. Beckinsale of what stunts she was expected to perform until often the moment she had to perform it,” the complaint read.

The actress also claimed the producers put her “in harm’s way” after they “continued to recklessly and intentionally forge ahead with unsafe filming conditions, forgoing safety to maintain profit margins.”

Beckinsale is seeking a jury trial and is asking for general and special damages for what she has endured.

Page Six has reached out to Amazon MGM Studios, Anton Media Entertainment and Zois for comment but did not immediately hear back.
