The Boston Celtics are looking to shed salary this offseason with a new owner taking over. He wants to make sure that the team is below the second apron.
With the penalties being so severe for teams being in the second apron, Bill Chisholm wants the Celtics to avoid that at all costs.
Starting point guard Jrue Holiday has been named as one of the players who are most likely to get moved. He is owed $104 million over the next three years.
Holiday is also already 35 years old, and he is coming off the worst year he’s had since his second year in the league. That doesn’t mean other teams don’t want him.
In fact, the Sacramento Kings have been linked as a team that could be interested in adding Holiday to their roster this summer.
According to NBA insider Jake Fischer, the Kings are interested in kicking the tires on a Holiday trade. The Kings traded De’Aaron Fox last season.

With the Kings in the market for a new starting point guard, Holiday could be the answer to their issues. They are a team that is caught in the middle, but they are still trying to win.
Holiday is still a pretty solid defensive player, so he can help a number of teams that are looking to win now. He can still put together a solid offensive game every now and then, too.
Boston is looking for any way to get some salary relief. Holiday isn’t the only highly-paid player that the Celtics are hoping to get rid of this summer.

The Celtics will likely look to move Kristaps Porzingis as well, although it all depends on what these teams are able to offer Boston.
Brad Stevens will have a lot of tough decisions to make when it comes to who to keep and who to trade this season. With Jayson Tatum out for most of next year, that makes these decisions even harder.
Shedding salary is important, but the Celtics want to still be competitive, as well.
This season, Holiday averaged 11.1 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game. He shot 44.3 percent from the field and 35.3 percent from beyond the three-point arc.
