New York’s early-season form has been exceptional. The Liberty led the WNBA in offensive rating (115.0), net rating (+24), and defensive rating (91.0), outscoring opponents by an average of 19 points per game. Their most recent victory was an 86-78 win over the Washington Mystics, highlighted by Breanna Stewart’s 26 points and 11 rebounds. Offensively, New York averages 91.1 points per game on 47.8% shooting, while holding opponents to just 72.1 points per game.
Chicago, by contrast, has struggled on both ends. The Sky average just 77.4 points per game on 39.9% shooting, while allowing 90.1 points per game, ranking near the bottom of the league in both categories. Their latest outing was a lopsided 79-52 home loss to Indiana, in which they shot only 32.1% from the field. The Sky also recently lost veteran point guard Courtney Vandersloot to a season-ending knee injury, further depleting their backcourt depth.
The Sky and Liberty faced off earlier in the season, with New York securing a dominant victory, beating Chicago 99-74.
