Summary

  • BEAMS Plus and Rancourt & Co. have collaborated on the Canoe Moc Tie, a classic Northeastern Summer staple set for release on June 14.

BEAMS Plus has garnered a diverse roster of global shoe collaborators, from Dr. Martens to Birkenstock. Still, perhaps the most fitting partners for the Americana/Prep-inspired label are those rooted in the tradition of distinctly American craft. The Japanese brand’s newly unveiled collaboration with Maine-based Rancourt & Co. carries that very creative culture to the present, reprising a classic Canoe Moccasin for today’s customer.

The Canoe Moc Tie emerges from Rancourt & Co.’s decades-long specialization in moccasin production since its birth in Maine in 1964. The elegant pair features a deep burnished calfskin upper with a classic leather sole. Braided leather shoelace that continues along the collar, emphasizing the craft-forward and coastal inspirations. Each shoe is carefully hand-sewn by skilled artisans, giving the final product a meticulous quality incomparable to machine stitching.

Moccasins, Boat Shoes, Loafers, and the like are staples of New England style, showing up with particular prominence in the 20th century with the emergence of prep and Ivy style codes. With menswear generally moving through an elevated design aesthetic  (i.e., the 2025 Met Gala theme, sneaker loafer trends, vintage timepieces, etc), the Canoe Moc Tie has a softer appeal with its delicate braided bows and patinated leather. One can easily envision the pair worn both on deck and on the dock at the height of Maine’s summer.

The BEAMS Plus x Rancourt & Co. Canoe Moc Tie is set for release on June 14 at BEAMS PLUS Harajuku, BEAMS PLUS Marunouchi, BEAMS Kobe, and the brand’s official web store.
