It has been nearly 10 years since the original cast of “Hamilton” hit Broadway, igniting an international frenzy and becoming the biggest phenomenon the Great White Way had seen in years.

On Sunday, 28 members from that cast reunited on the Tonys stage to perform a whirlwind medley of the show’s biggest numbers. They performed portions of “Non-Stop,” “My Shot,” “The Schuyler Sisters,” “Guns and Ships,” “You’ll Be Back,” “Yorktown,” “The Room Where It Happens” and “History Has Its Eyes on You.”

At the 2016 Tonys, “Hamilton” earned 16 nominations and won 11 prizes. Soon after, many of its cast members left the show to take time off or to pursue other projects.

Here is a rundown of where everyone has been since that momentous opening run.

Lin-Manuel Miranda

Miranda transformed Broadway with “Hamilton,” which he wrote and starred in, playing the founding father Alexander Hamilton. Miranda’s rise to the top of Hollywood began after he left the show in 2016. That year he contributed to the score of “Moana,” the animated feature, earning an Academy Award nomination for the original song “How Far I’ll Go.” Years later he earned another Oscar nomination for the original song “Dos Oruguitas” from the animated film “Encanto.” He also wrote for other musical films including, “Mufasa: The Lion King” and “The Little Mermaid,” the live-action remake starring Halle Bailey.

He played Jack in “Mary Poppins Returns” opposite Emily Blunt in 2018 and starred as the piragüero in the 2021 film adaptation of “In the Heights,” the Broadway show he and Quiara Alegría Hudes created.

Miranda has not shied away from politics, and as recently as March he announced that “Hamilton” would not participate in the Kennedy Center’s celebration of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence after President Trump took over the institution.

Miranda is now working with Eisa Davis on a musical adaptation of the film “The Warriors,” after the release last year of a concept album (called simply “Warriors”).

Leslie Odom Jr.

Odom, who performed as Aaron Burr in the original production, found new levels of success after his run in “Hamilton” ended in 2016. He has since acted in movies and television shows, and has released several solo albums.

Some of his notable onscreen appearances include playing Dr. Arbuthnot in “Murder on the Orient Express” in 2017. Two years later, he played William Still in “Harriet” opposite Cynthia Erivo, the “Wicked” star who hosted the Tonys telecast on Sunday night. Odom earned two Oscar nominations in 2021 for his work in the movie “One Night in Miami,” which was directed by Regina King — one for best supporting actor for his turn as Sam Cooke, the other for best original song for “Speak Now.”

Last year, Odom earned his second Tony nomination for his role as Purlie in the revival of Ossie Davis’s 1961 play “Purlie Victorious,” an uproarious comedy about a Black preacher from Georgia. Odom will return to Broadway later this year to reprise his role as Burr in “Hamilton.”

Daveed Diggs

When Diggs decided to leave “Hamilton,” in which he played Marquis de Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson, he worried about what might become of his career. “What if nobody wants me, and I don’t make any money anymore,” he told The New York Times in 2016.

Since then he has appeared in dozens of television shows and films. He found success in voice acting with roles in “Ferdinand,”, “Soul,” and “The Little Mermaid.” In 2018 he wrote and starred in “Blindspotting,” an acclaimed film about a man struggling with his final three days of probation.

More recently, Diggs appeared as the adult Elwood in the Oscar-nominated drama “Nickel Boys.”

Renée Elise Goldsberry

Goldsberry, who played Angelica Schuyler in “Hamilton,” pulled double duty on Sunday. Before performing in the cast medley, she hosted the Tonys preshow with Darren Criss.

Since leaving “Hamilton,” she has appeared in more than a dozen episodes of the Netflix sci-fi show “Altered Carbon.” She also starred as Wickie Roy in “Girls5eva,” a cult-favorite comedy about a one-hit wonder band from the ’90s that gets a second shot at fame.

In 2023, Goldsberry performed in Shakespeare’s “The Tempest,” a production staged by the Public Theater’s Public Works program. She returned to Broadway last year for a turn in “All In: Comedy About Love,” a series of stories about dating, heartbreak and marriage.

She released a debut album, “Who I Really Am” (including a new version of “Satisfied” from “Hamilton”) on Friday.

Jonathan Groff

Groff played King George in “Hamilton” and is currently on Broadway now as Bobby Darin in the musical “Just In Time.” He was nominated on Sunday for best performance by an actor in a leading role in a musical.

Groff has remained busy with film and television, with credits in “Mindhunter,” “Lost Ollie” and more. He also voices the characters Kristoff and Sven in Disney’s “Frozen” films.

Groff made his return to Broadway in 2023 with a Tony-winning performance as Franklin Shepard in the transformational revival of “Merrily We Roll Along.”

Christopher Jackson

Jackson played George Washington, the first president of the United States, in “Hamilton.”

Jackson currently stars in “And Just Like That…” as Herbert Wexley, Lisa’s (Nicole Ari Parker) husband. He is also back on Broadway in “Hell’s Kitchen,” the Alicia Keys musical, as Davis, Ali’s father.

Some of Jackson’s other acting credits since “Hamilton” include several episodes of “Central Park,” the animated television series, and six seasons as Chunk Palmer in “Bull,” the legal drama that aired on CBS.

Phillipa Soo

Soo played Eliza Hamilton in the original Broadway show. Since then she has starred in several different roles in Broadway productions, including “Amélie, A New Musical.” She starred in “Into The Woods,” in which a New York Times critic said she was a “shimmering soprano who can make each emotion as legible as skywriting.” Soo last appeared on Broadway in 2023 as Guenevere in the musical “Camelot.”

She has remained busy with television and film projects. She acted as Lt. Harper Li in more than a dozen episodes of “The Code” in 2019 and two years later appeared in six episodes of “The Bite,” the television mini-series. She is currently playing Avery Morgan, a nurse practitioner, on “Doctor Odyssey,” the outrageous ABC medical drama that takes place on a luxury cruise ship.

Ariana DeBose

DeBose was a dancer in the original cast who embodied the bullet that killed Hamilton. Since the show ended, she has enjoyed much breakout success.

She has acted in numerous television shows and films, including the musical “West Side Story,” in which she played Anita. That role earned DeBose the Oscar in 2022 for best supporting actress, as well as a Golden Globe.

She also hosted the Tonys in 2022, 2023 and 2024.
