Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky came into the 2025 WNBA season looking to take a big step from last year. So far, things have not gone according to plan.
Following their loss at home to the Indiana Fever on Saturday night, the Sky dropped to 2-5 on the season. Losing to the rival Fever, who were playing without Caitlin Clark and Sophie Cunningham, was a rough reality check.
Not only did Chicago lose to Indiana, the final score was 79-52. That loss showed just how far away the Sky truly are from competing, at least at this point.
In the loss, Reese did not show up. She scored just four points on 2-for-7 shooting, but did grab 12 rebounds.

WNBA legend Candace Parker spoke out recently about Reese. She sent a very pointed message about the young Sky star and what she needs to do to take the next step.
“For me I think the improvement comes from figuring out what you’re gonna be great at,” Parker said. “We already know she’s gonna be a great rebounder, but I think it’s really mastering like what spots. A lot of people come in and try to get better at everything. ‘Shoot threes and I’m gonna come down and do this, this and this.’ But you forget that it really is like the little tiny things.”
She continued on, adding one final statement about Reese.
“My thing is what is Angel Reese’s spot,” she asked. “And what is her go to.”
That is great advice from Parker. Reese does need to focus on picking one thing, especially offensively, and becoming great. She’s already a great rebounder and defender, but her offensive game needs a lot of work.
So far this season, Reese has played in seven games. She has averaged 9.1 points, 12.3 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.6 steals per game, while shooting 30.9 percent from the floor.

Her shooting numbers have been dismal. If she can become a legitimate post-up scoring forward, her future would look much brighter.
Parker has given her a map to taking the next step. Hopefully, Reese is able to hear that advice and take action on it.
There is no doubt that Reese has the talent and potential to be great. If she can take her offensive game to the next level, she’ll be well on her way to achieving her ceiling.
