The 2025 BET Awards are set to go on as planned Monday night as protests continue around Los Angeles against federal ICE raids.
The ceremony is taking place at the Peacock Theater located within downtown Los Angeles’ L.A. Live.
This is close to the epicenter of Sunday’s massive protests, where thousands took to the streets over President Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown and the deployment of the National Guard. At one point, a group blocked the 101 Freeway. Some set self-driving cars on fire and threw objects, including concrete and electric scooters, at police.
BET told The Hollywood Reporter that they’re “committed to the safety of our guests and staff. We are working closely with LAPD and monitoring the situation. The 2025 BET Awards will take place Monday, June 9th, 2025, at 8 p.m. ET/PT as scheduled.”
Comedian and actor Kevin Hart is set to host the show. Lil Wayne, Playboi Carti, Leon Thomas, Keyshia Cole and Glorilla are listed as the musical acts. The show will air on BET.
Known as “culture’s biggest night,” this year’s ceremony is celebrating its 25th anniversary. The BET Awards celebrate the achievements of Black artists, actors, athletes and more across the entertainment industry.
